Suicune Shores was a quiet place this evening. A few scattered sunbathers were packing up their things, slowly retreating as the sunlight waned. Evan himself was just arriving, and he was a little disappointed to see that he was nearly alone. He treasured the carefree beach atmosphere. It was a place people gathered to relax and enjoy the moment, a place typically full of the 'chill' people he liked to be around. It was a little to late for socializing now. Oh well, at least his pokemon could enjoy the evening with him. He produced two pokeballs, releasing an Elekid and a Staryu from the spheres.
The little electric creature shyly smiled up at Evan. He took a step backwards-- and suddenly realized that there wasn't normal ground beneath his feet. "Ele!" A timid sound of surprise escaped. He reached down, slowly digging one hand into the cool sand. He supposed this must be the beach. He had never actually visited a beach before. He had heard plenty about them, though. Humans liked to gather here and lay down, for some strange reason. Sometimes they even made something they called 'sand castles'. Now, that sounded kind of interesting. The pokemon began slowly pushing the sand into a little mound. There, castle. A satisfied smile creeped across his face.
The Staryu didn't waste a moment. She gleefully bounced toward the ocean, and soon disappeared beneath the gentle waves. Evan pulled off his shirt and ran after her, easily matching her enthusiasm. His body was halfway underwater when he suddenly halted.
"Shit, it's freezing!" He yelped, and scrambled out of the ocean twice as fast as he had gotten in. The Staryu leaped above the surface, making a sound that resembled laughter. Artemus looked up from his 'castle' and smiled at the trembling, wet human.
"What, buddy, you wanna try?" Evan's uncomfortable frown transformed into dumb grin. He trekked up the beach and grabbed the Elekid's hand. "C'mon Arty, you'll love it. Ever been in the ocean before?"
The timid pokemon shook his head as rapidly as he could and desperately dug his feet into the sand. It was no use, he was too little and weak to resist. Evan easily dragged him toward the water. "Elekid! Elee~" He helplessly squealed protests.
When the two reached the moist part of the sand, Evan stopped. Artemus eyed the approaching rush of water and terror gripped him. He squirmed forcefully, twisting this way and that, until he finally escaped Evan's grasp. The little electric pokemon sprinted up the shore, squealing fearfully at the top of his lungs. Evan ran after him, laughing.

giselle marks • seven hundred and nineteen.
it was quiet out tonight. it had been a few weeks since the first year had arrived at ledom. she'd already been involved in a battle and had made a few friends. happy with her outcome, the red-haired girl was traversing the shores for some relaxation. and maybe a few pokemon. she stared hungrily at the waves. "do you think the suicine would ever show up, reg? it's legendary, so it would have better things to do, i'm sure. but that would be really cool, you know? just to, like, meet a legendary pokemon." she smiled, staring over at her snover. the dual type just nodded. he found it ridiculous for her to think that at all, but he kept quiet about it. the pokemon to her other side, however, eagerly supported the idea. "spheal, spheal!" it looked like she wasn't the only one coming to the beach at night. despite all the sunbathers and fishermen leaving the shore, there was a sole boy strolling onto the sand. he appeared to be alone until bright beams of light were seen in front of him. an elekid and a staryu appeared. and giselle's little spheal couldn't be happier. with a few shrieks, it began to make its way up to the trio. "oh, eustace! eustace, wait a minute! you can't just go barging up like that!" her cries were met with deaf ears, it seemed. the dual type was far too excited to hear her. he clamored past sand dunes to greet them. he eagerly stared at the sand castle the elekid was making and it's cheeks bulged. it released a small squirt of water on the mound. and mumbled, "sphe." instructing the electric type with his flippers as he pushed the hardened sand closer together. this is how it's done. he seemed to say. meanwhile, his coordinator and other teammate were hustling to get close. the staryu and the boy had dove straight into the water, so it seemed like they didn't care that the spheal was teaching the elekid how to make a proper sandcastle. the dripping human came forward and eustace backed up a considerable amount. only to bump into giselle. her eyes were glazed over as she stared at the wet, shirtless boy. reginald narrowed his eyes and prodded her hard in the shoulder. snapped from her trance, the girl smiled over as the boy attempted to drag his pokemon over towards the water. when it didn't turn out so well, the girl knelt down and giggled at the approaching yellow pokemon. "hi there, little guy. not too fond of the water, huh? reginald isn't either," she smiled, motioning to her large snover. the intimdating looking ice pokemon looked down at the elekid and mumbled, “sno.” he wasn't really a pokemon of many words. she was knelt down in the sand when her back was drenched with water. she whipped around and stood up. two small pokemon were standing side by side. one looked angry. while the other appeared bored. the totodile turned it's listless gaze toward it's annoyed krabby friend. "toto," it sighed, rolling it's eyes. reg narrowed his blue eyes and loomed perilously over to creatures. the krabby snapped forward with it's vicegrip and fastened reginald's arm between it's pincers. the snover gritted its teeth and turned towards giselle. the coordinator had knelt back down and had her arms wrapped protectively around eustace and touched the arm of the elekid in fright. the snover gave a deep huff and motioned at it's arm that was caught in between the krabby's claw. "reginald! oh, oh. um. uh. i know what to do now, i know what to do! use razor leaf!" she instructed, shivering from the cold water that soaked her back and hair. the snover happily obliged and summoned up a fit of leaves. the razor leaf attack shot forward and sliced at the krabby's claw. the red pokemon slunk backwards and gave an angry hiss. the totodile seemed to snap back to life at it's friends pain and prowled forward. raising a stubby arm, it sliced towards the elekid with a scratch attack. giselle turned towards it's trainer with her mouth open. she had no idea what to do for his pokemon. and even if she did, would this boy want her bossing his pokemon around? Artemus jumped when the human knelt down to address him. He cringed away from her on instinct, but was surprisingly brave enough to hold his ground. After observing her for a moment, he didn't really feel the need to be afraid. Her voice sounded kind, and she had a pretty smile. The creature relaxed, blushing a bit. She had seen how scared he was? Oh, that was embarrassing.
What was this about.. Reginald? Arty gaped up at the big pokemon, and his fear suddenly reignited. What an intimidating guy! "E-ele." He stuttered in response, his voice a terrified squeak.
Evan was slowly approaching, fascinated by the exchange. It seemed Arty had managed to attract the attention of a pretty girl. For once, his wimpy Elekid had done something productive. Evan beamed, proud of the little fellow. And Arty wasn't running away from her! Oh, progress, progress. Maybe he could be a good trainer, after all. Just as he was mentally giving himself a pat on the back, he noticed that some kind of pokemon had suddenly spurted water at the girl. Evan let out a little giggle, but he quickly stifled it with his hand and started jogging toward the group. The Elekid let loose an irritated growl, glaring at the Krabby. He liked this humanlady, she was nice. It was not okay for some wild brats to go about attacking her. He took a protective step towards the girl, and felt a little elated when she touched his arm. Bits of harmless electricity sputtered from the projections on his head. Oh, how he wished he could gather his electricity and give the opponents a nice shock. Yet no matter how hard he tried, he simply couldn't control the tiny sparks.
Distracted by the Krabby, Arty didn't even notice the Totodile lunging for him. The water-type's extended paw scraped painfully across the Elekid's face. He let out a terrified squeal and touched the scratched area, entirely dumbfounded by the pain.
Evan had finally reached them. Why was his Elekid just standing there, gaping? "Use a Quick Attack, silly." He suggested, minorly disappointed that Arty hadn't done something already.
The pokemon timidly gulped, but he didn't argue. He rushed forward, soon becoming a mere blur of motion as he picked up speed. He aimed his diving body for the Totodile.

the little elekid seemed frigthened of giselle. the dark-haired girl gave a small smile and patted the spheal at her side. "you can trust me, buddy. i have pokemon, too. see? eustace was trying to show you how to build a sandcastle," she cooed, unable to control how mushy her voice sounded. cute pokemon always distracted her like that. and when their trainers were cute, too? it was hard to keep the boy crazy eighteen year old quiet. when the wild pokemon began their assault - the krabby's assault rather, his totodile friend seemed bored by the concept - the elekid stepped closer to giselle. his fear of reginald soon subsided in seeing the two wild hooligans. when she touched his arm, she felt a light jolt. it was nothing painful, but it did cause her to flinch. she cleared her throat, now thoroughly embarrassed. she froze on the spot for a moment. watching reginald's arm be clamped down on. she was helpless when it came to the elekid. she didn't know any of his moves, but felt as though she needed to do something. he'd recoiled from the scratch attack and was stroking at his injuries; totally unaware of what had just happened. "spheal." eustace gave a small whine of encouragement. he knew that giselle would want reginald up for this fight. and that interjecting would appear rude. as if the coordinator didn't think the boy was capable of handling his pokemon well enough. giselle watched as he made his way over to them. imagine what he saw! some frightened girl cowering behind a small spheal. with her large snover protecting them. wimpy. at best. she turned her face up to stare, but her pokemon's cry jerked her back to reality. “snover,” it muttered patiently, watching the krabby scuttle backwards from his attack. the totodile to his left was not faring so well. the elekid had bounded forwards and the quick attack landed straight in the water-type's chest. "totodile, toto," it hissed angrily, spitting sand from it's mouth. the creature stood it's ground and fixed the baby pokemon with a hard leer; it's eyes glinting in a mesmerizing way. hopefully causing the elekid to be distracted. enough so that the totodile could reach forward again.. reginald rolled his eyes at giselle. who had let the boy gotten the best of her again. with his back leg, he lightly kicked a bit of sand in her face. her eyes widened as she stood up. her pinks a brilliant shade of pink. "oh, uhh. powder snow," she instructed, wiping sand free from her cheeks and her wet hair. her purse hung at her waist. if she had time to reach for her brush.. no. the boy would think she was absolutely mental. instead, she turned to face him. one eye was kept on reginald. sort of. not really. "so, i know this is a bit of a bad time, but my name's giselle. and this is eustace. and that's reginald. are you a first year here? i am. coordination major, actually. it's kind of fun once you get used to it. i hardly ever have to battle, but.. i battled one kid already. he was a real jerk to his pokemon. i'm not. sorry about eustace. he loves making her friends." she continued to aimlessly chatter away, oblivious to the battle at hand. reginald had rushed forward and opened his mouth to burst out a large mist full of powder snow. the krabby shuddered at the cold and shrank back. with a glower, the red pokemon opened his mouth and doused the dual-type's body with mud from his mud sport attack. Arty felt a little bad when his attack landed. As if the impact surprised him, he stumbled awkwardly backwards and let out a little whine. Oh, he hoped he hadn't caused too much pain. The Elekid smiled apologetically, but this kind expression was quickly met by a harsh glare from his opponent. Arty shuddered, feeling a little defenseless. He didn't feel so bad for attacking the creature anymore.
Evan's attention flickered indecisively between the battle and the stranger. Honestly, he's much rather chat with her than focus on fighting. A cute girl always had priority.
"Giselle, huh? That's pretty." He grinned, and gestured towards his pokemon. "That's Artemus, and this one's uh-- Staryu. At the moment." He blushed a little, suddenly realizing that he'd never got around to giving the little water-type a name. Hopefully, it didn't take offense or anything. It was kind of hard to tell, since the pokemon didn't really have.. a face.
"I'm Evan. I'm a first year, too. Training major though. Guess it's kinda sad then that I've never actually.. battled with my own pokemon before. I don't really get into fighting. I guess it's.. kinda fun so far." He shrugged, clearly not caring too much about the battle at hand.
He looked a little surprised when she apologized for Eustace. "Oh, not something to be sorry about at all." He glanced down at the Spheal and smiled. "Kinda wish Arty was as friendly as you. Maybe you can loosen him up some, ya know?"
He finally turned his attention to the battle. His Elekid seemed a little bewildered again. "Try another Quick Attack, buddy." He suggested. Arty lunged again, throwing his hefty little body at the water-type.
Evan studied the opposing pokemon. That Totodile didn't seem like a very cheery fellow.. Despite this, Evan decided that he'd love to have the adorable creature on his team. He toyed with one of the empty pokeballs in his pocket. Suddenly the fate of this battle was a bit more interesting.

WIPPPPPPPPPP. giselle marks • six hundred and eight.
the totodile had to blink numerous times before he registered the look of the small electric type. he looked sorry? why? here he was, minding his own business, when krabby decided he wanted to go start some trouble. the totodile wasn't really into the whole fighting thing, but it was fun all the same. he leered over at the pokemon and the look he'd had on his face was gone. giselle wasn't focusing on the battle too much. not now that the boy was talking to her. she let out a small giggle. "well thank you! a named borrowed from my grandmother. i can't take all the credit," she joked, grinning. he introduced his two pokemon. and the girl stared intently over at the nameless staryu. it was sort of sad, not having a name and all. still, the pokemon was pretty. in an odd sort of way. he began to introduce himself next. he was a first year training major. hmm. a coordination major who had more battling experience than a training major? that didn't seem quite right, but it wasn't nice to brag to cute boys. to ugly girls, sure. "it's nice to meet you. i'm sure things will pick up once school actually starts. i heard the training teachers here are kinda tough. i don't mean to brag, but i am book smart in a way. if you ever needed any help, you could call me. i'll give you my number after this, okay?" she smiled. bragging while flirting; however, was totally acceptable. the dark-haired girl watched as eustace took in evan's "spheal." eustace gave a small whine of encouragement. he knew that giselle would want reginald up for this fight. and that interjecting would appear rude. as if the coordinator didn't think the boy was capable of handling his pokemon well enough. giselle watched as he made his way over to them. imagine what he saw! some frightened girl cowering behind a small spheal. with her large snover protecting them. wimpy. at best. she turned her face up to stare, but her pokemon's cry jerked her back to reality. “snover,” it muttered patiently, watching the krabby scuttle backwards from his attack. the totodile to his left was not faring so well. the elekid had bounded forwards and the quick attack landed straight in the water-type's chest.
