giselle marks • four hundred and fifty eight.
reginald’s midsection was covered in chesto berries. they’d been growing there since early may and they had just now begun to ripen. the snover looked over at his coordinator and grunted. she was too busy messing with her phone. she did that a lot these days. he tried again, this time giving her a light prod with his spiky paw. “yeah, that’s nice reginald. really nice.” she mumbled absentmindedly, looking up from her near constant distraction. her head tilted as though she was a skitty staring at a ball of yarn for the first time. reg pointed at his stomach and blinked. the brunette grinned and jumped up and down. “well would you look at that! reg, can you believe it took so long from them to grow?” a large smile blossomed on her glossed lips. giselle was very much a city girl. glitz, glamour, and fashion. that summed her style choices up, basically.
she used to be a party girl when she lived in goldenrod city, but ledom academy changed her. she had rules and boundaries now. and curfew. oh, how she disliked curfew. it was a midnight lights-out, but it was still a problem. she was used to a nanny who gave her everything, but took away nothing. it was how giselle liked things. the girl talked a lot and wasn’t afraid to go off on people. she was highly defensive of her friends and loved ones. she hadn’t made many friends yet, but that was because classes hadn’t officially started. it was still in the orientation phase of the whole academy which meant that the students were going to the back to school social the last weekend of month one and the first four weeks were for meeting the roommate, collecting some pokemon to begin a team, and get used to the whole school environment.
giselle had little contact with her workaholic parents, so it was not a problem for her. reginald cleared his throat and poked at his stomach again. the girl’s eyebrows arched and she reached out to pluck a few of the berries, but let her hand hover a moment. “it’s not gonna hurt is it? i mean, i know it’s normal for snover, but you never know. it’s, like, attached to your body..” the pokemon rolled his baby blue eyes and nodded for her to proceed. she tentatively began to tug a berry off. reginald sat very still during the whole process. as if to tell his coordinator everything was okay. the girl successfully pulled one free and her eyes widened. “snover,” he muttered quietly. his arms rose and fell in an excited movement, but he said no more than that. he’d show giselle that he was far more important than her cellphone.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

ronnie was so used to this place. ledom academy was nothing new to the returning second year. and his fire dream team was slowly but surely on its way to becoming great. he has his most trusted pokemon beside him. carlie the vulpix. the little feminine looking pokemon had her head held high. a trait she learned from her trainer, no doubt. ronnie was perfect in every sense of the word. i mean, why wouldn't he be? he had everything. hid mother doted on him constantly. and it was all expected from the boy. never once did the twenty-year-old say thank you. ronald welden was no sweetheart. he hated things love-dovey. except the chocolate. the kind you drooled over. dark chocolate. he adored chocolate. he tapped at the pokeball that was clinging to his belt. "should we bring cooper out now?" the vulpix narrowed his eyes and shook his head.
carlie was too much like her trainer. she didn't like having the spotlight on anyone but her. it was self-centered, sure. but, hey, attention was everything. the duo were making their way to the courtyard. to catch up on.. making friends. in reality, the boy and his fire beauty were totally into bullying people. making them see how dim they looked in comparison to him. "vulpix, vull," she growled, arching her back. ronnie stared down at her. she did that when another pokemon came into view. or scent. or hearing. whenever another pokemon was around ever. ronnie swished his hair to the side. if it was a girl owning that pokemon, he'd need to look good. and, using his mother's credit card, he'd bought a new wardrobe for this school year. and, while it was all very casual, it looked nice. he bent down and pat his vulpix lightly on the head. "let's check it out, hmm?" the pokemon responded with a reluctant nod and led the way.
ronnie and carlie walked a few more paces. keeping with one another's paces quite nicely. the vulpix froze and faced a pokemon much larger than herself. but one she could easily defeat. it was a snover. who looked very placid and weak. the vulpix raised her lips to expose her teeth. "vull," she warned, standing protectively in front of ronnie. he was smirking with one hand placed in his back pocket. "morning. you must be new here. first years always come to the courtyard before doing anything else. you know, i'm one of the most popular kids in school. and one of the smartest. and the most handsome. you're a lucky girl. running into someone like me." the boy grinned, shaking his head at just how charming he was. "the name's ronnie. and this is carlie. one of my closest friends. and, who might this be?" he asked, staring down at the snover.

the snover heard a light growl. it sounded defensive and angry. the dual type pokemon narrowed his eyes and looked over at his coordinator. who hadn't noticed a thing. with a sigh, the pokemon turned to face one of the many corners of columns. giselle tilted her head again and asked, “what's the problem, reg?” her pokemon didn't answer. his actions were done rightfully so when a duo strolled out before them. a boy who looked a few years older than giselle and a small little vulpix. her lips pulled back to expose sharp, ivory-white teeth. and she gave a feral snarl. the girl laid a hand on her snover and bent down to whisper in his ear. “ohh, i see now. the vulpix could totally beat you. it's okay. we have eustace in my pocket, remember? he has water gun. so if there are any problems, we could send him out. you know? then again, i hope nothing bad happens. that wouldn't be good. but, you know. i think that - oh. he's talking to me. shh.”
she mumbled, straightening up. reginald gave a deep sigh at his companion's naive nature. she was eighteen years old and still acted as though she was four. “sno,” he greeted stiffly. he nodded towards the vulpix. who looked like she wanted to rip his throat out. giselle stared at the boy. and her eyebrows arched. he wore name brand things, but he dressed very casually. was this some kind of act? he sure sounded sure of himself. popular, smart, and good looking? wow, he certainly was a kid who loved the spotlight. giselle smiled back at him and drew a loose strand of hair from her ponytail and placed it behind her ear. “uhm, morning. sounds to me like i ran into the right guy. you seem to know a lot about ledom, huh? so, do you like it here? i do. kind of. i mean, it's not my thing: curfews and rules and stuff. but it's nice.” the boy's pokemon was bristling at the sight of giselle and her pokemon. it worried her a bit.
“so, ronnie, is it? my name's giselle. giselle marks. as in marks cellular devices. my parents are the owners of it in goldenrod city. that's where i'm from. you ever had a drink? i have. in goldenrod. i had a lot of friends like that. but i didn't ever drink heavily or anything..” the guy extended his hand towards reginald and giselle loosened her grip. he want interested in her pokemon? she pursed her lips in thought. he wouldn't take him away, would he? no, that was against the rules. starter pokemon were to remain with their handlers at all times. “this is my snover reginald. reg for short. but i mainly call him reg. so, you can call him reginald if you want. he's a dual ice and grass type. which, i'm sure your.. well, your carlie, could easily take him. but, can we not do that? reg isn't a fan of fighting. he's my battle round pokemon, but.. oh! i'm a coordinating major by the way. what about you?”[/blockquote][/blockquote]

ronnie watched the girl in front of him bend down to whisper in the snover's ear. it wasn't very quiet. not at all, really. in fact, the boy could hear everything she was saying. she had what? a pokemon that knew water gun. eustace, who was that? or, better yet, what was that? ronnie hated other people outshining him. even girls. he stiffened a bit and nudged carlie with his toe. the vulpix snapped her head up and stared at him. "cooper can come out now, yes?" with a reluctant sniff, the fire pokemon turned away. if cooper was going to be let out, she didn't want any part of it. the darumaka did nothing but steal her spotlight. which was something she couldn't stand. like pokemon like trainer. ronnie unclipped the second pokeball from his belt and tossed it into the air. she flicked his gaze over to the girl. did she notice? he cleared his throat and smirked.
a bright beam of red light shot down and revealed cooper the darumaka. "darumaka! daru, darumaka!" the more energetic pokemon squealed. carlie silenced her teammate with a whip of her tail. it shot into bursts of flames. with all these pokemon around, how was she supposed to be doted on and desired? ronnie had ignored the arrival of his second pokemon; he was too enthralled in giselle's opinion of the school. "so, you're a rulebreaker? funny, wouldn't picture you as one. i've broken a few rules. but i've never gotten caught. i'm a lucky guy. stick with me and you'll go places," the grinned, flicking his long hair to the side. was it working? was he impressing her? he loved being wanted and admired. and looked upon for advice. he looked for friends most of all. he kind of felt alone in the world. he'd never been one for a real friendly guy. bully would be a better term.
giselle began to get into her life story. ronnie should have stopped her and stolen the show, but he let her carry on. no one's history was more important than his. "have i ever had a drink? me? hah! oh please, you're talking to the king of parties. i've been to tons. lived in celadon city. that's the huge one in kanto. my parents are.. uhm.. famous coordinators. yeah, real famous." straight lies. his parents were bankers. and he was from pallet town. and, he'd never had a drink in his life. but did any of that matter right now? no. what mattered was impressing this girl. so, she liked ice types.. his fire team could totally take them down. no problem. apparently, she didn't want a fight though. what a shame. "reginald? that's an interesting name. this is cooper. he's a really upbeat bastard, but, you get used to the sticky sweetness after a while. i'm a trainer in the making. i'd love to show you.. how's about one quick battle? my vulpix against one of your pokemon?"

giselle couldn't help but notice the boy coughing and flipping his hair as she talked. she carried on, but eyed him. was he this desperate for attention? he unclipped a pokeball from his belt. and the girl tightened her grip on reginald's shoulder. whatever was in there could be as mean as carlie. it was named cooper; he'd asked the vulpix if he could be released. she looked completely pissed. the snover stared silently at the scene unfurling before him. in a jet of red light, an extremely perky pokemon appeared. giselle narrowed her eyes at the darumaka. despite who he lived with, he was very happy. maybe that was why the vulpix was so mad. “rulebreaker? oh, no. you see, my friends were the real problems. the drinking and the smoking came from them. i was an accomplice. but, you know. and.. stick with you? look, you seem nice and all, but.. i dunno. seem a bit cocky for my taste,” the girl snorted, staring down at her manicured hand. once she'd grown used to the boy, her true colors would show. and there they were; bitchy and snobby.
he'd lived in celadon city, huh? well, it was no goldenrod, but she supposed it was cool enough. she noticed him fumble on his parent's occupations. she arched an eyebrow. maybe he was reluctant to talk about it. famous people's children always made friends because of their parents. giselle had to ask, though. “really? how cool! what are their names? surely, i must know of them! i have all kinds of coordination dvds back in my dorm. i love dvds. and if your parents are as good as they seem to be, i'd love to look them up,” giselle squealed, bouncing up and down with excitement. his parents were coordinators? all speculation was gone in an instant. ronnie gave reg a small inclination on greeting. and the snover simply stared at him. he was too focused on his bristling vulpix to really respond. the prickly pokemon was very aggressive, but this ronnie fella didn't seem to mind at all. he did, though, care about how happy his other pokemon was. the little darumaka was bouncing around and trying to play. and say hello to everyone. the snover dipped his head as if to say hello.
“snover,” the larger pokemon growled at the mention of battle. he turned his head to see a starstruck giselle. probably still fantasizing about meeting his famous parents. the snover tugged on her skirt. and that snapped her back into the reality. giselle's lips popped into an o shape as the words registered in her brain. “well, he doesn't like to battle. and the obvious type advantages. oh, i just couldn't. i mean, i.. i suppose i could use eustace. yeah, yeah. i'll just use eustace.” with a reluctant smile, she stepped back and nabbed a pokeball from her purse. with tossed it into the air, and instead of the usual red light, there were many blue bubbles. the little spheal flipped out with a cry and landed with his flippers extended. "spheal, spheal!" the little pokemon cried shrilly. he tottered over to meet the other pokemon, but reginald held him back with a stare. “this is eustace everyone. now, little buddy, i want you to use defense curl!” giselle ordered. she watched as her pokemon bounced forward and tucked himself into a little ball. he rolled up into a defense curl.

cocky? oh ho ho. this girl had a lot to learn. ronnie wasn't cocky, he was perfect. a bit of a huge different. "cocky, huh? i don't see it." the boy flipped his hair again. sometimes it felt like he was having spaz attacks. the little prissy girl held out a polished hand and turned up her nose. she was some kind of weird. she went from happy to rude in a matter of seconds. and then when the conversation drew to his 'famous' parents, she snapped into some kind of starry-eyed, admiring stare. her pokemon drew her back into reality, but not before she could ask him a ton of questions. "oh, you know. the hudsons. those are my parents. really, uh, really under the radar a lot of the times. not so sure they'd be in your dvds. they don't like being on television. they're weird. can we change the subject? my parents and i don't really talk much anymore," he lied, smiling. his parents talked all the time. he bossed them around a lot these days.
her snover stared over at carlie. the fiery little vulpix snapped and swatted at him with her paw. ronnie kicked her with his sneaker and hissed, "carlie, cool it. you can fight him in a minute. it was carlie's thing: fighting and being number one. but the happy-go-lucky darumaka always got more attention because of his personality. carlie didn't understand why people didn't love her. she was gorgeous and strong. maybe not as nice as some other pokemon, but.. it still wasn't fair. the girl was looking shocked at his invitation to battle. would she accept? staring down at his starter, he prayed she would. that way, carlie wouldn't go in a frenzy to prove herself without a formal battle being issued. the girl thought things through out loud and tossed some ideas around. when she said she wouldn't use reginald, the vulpix growled. she'd been looking forward to sinking her teeth into the pokemon's fur. instead, the girl nabbed a pokeball from her purse. the one she called eustace. it was nothing but a worthless little spheal!
as his pokeball opened, there wasn't the usual burst of red. and that confused both carlie and ronnie. cooper, on the other hand, reached up to pop to foaming blue bubbles. carlie reached out and nipped his foot. the pokemon drew back with a disheartened whimper. ronnie noticed the spheal was as excited to meet everyone as cooper had been. but the snover had barred his path. giselle took it upon herself to make the first move. ah well. it was ladies first. the dual type pokemon chose to use a move to strengthen defense right off the bat. that definitely wouldn't fly. not at all. ronnie knew he'd be using his starter, so when the spheal began its move, carlie bounded in front of him. cooper sat down, playing innocently with blades of grass. completely uninterested in the coming battle. "carlie, unball him using a tail whip" the vulpix tore forward and twisted around. her plumy orange tail slammed into the spheal's curled up body. the tail whip attack hit nicely, though she should've gone for the face.

IT WAS DAYTIME, THE SUN SPARKLING overhead and the white clouds whispered across the sky like spirits searching for some lost thing. ammy sat on a bench in the courtyard fiddling with her long brown hair, pulling it into a messy bun while prima sat with interested eyes. elmo sit in her pokeball, unwilling to come out into the day's yellow sun. snap! the rubber band snapped in two leaving a small red welt on ammy's white clean hands. she cursed loudly, then explored through her backpack looking for another. unfortunatley, that was her last and final one.
sighing, ammy lay back in the chair, and stared up at the sun, not caring one bit of how it hurt her eyes. "maybe it would be better if i was blind, then i wouldn't see all the nasty stares i get all the time. what do you think prima?" of course there was no answer, but the clamperl did seem to have a look of "no way!" plastered onto its pink face. so ammy stood, ran her fingers through her hair quickly and began gathering her stuff. she took off half running half jogging with prima struggling to keep up. as soon as she had started she stopped again to look at the scene ahead of her. two trainers battling.
one was a girl, and to ammy she looked like a big pain. the other a boy, and a rather cute one too. but she would never admit that to him, no, she would much rather keep innapropriate thoughts like those to her own self. but she was intrigued by these too, and it made her long to battle herself. so with prima's wails of tiredness, ammy sat. her sky blue eyes simply watched, and for once in her life, she didn't utter a word to the other trainers. if one was winning, she couldn't tell. she just wanted to see the outcome, and their skills. maybe one day she would be in a battle with one of the two, and she would need to gather all of this info to win.

The day certainly was a beautiful one for young Alexander Peakes. The sun was soothingly warm and not brutally scorching like it was in the south. The wind was brisk and relaxing, and not violently overpowering like it was for a cyclist going down a cycling road. And the sky was blue with no signs of any ominous rain clouds that could threaten a lovely day like today. Being a second year student at the academy, Xander was quite a bit more sure of himself than he was in his previous year. Last year certainly was interesting. Oddly enough, he found himself being partnered with an ugly Pokemon as his starter: his Vullaby, Madre. Xander had envisioned that he would have some other sort of Pokemon to be his partner, but he wasn't one to complain. He grew to love Madre who acted considerably mature for her age, which was probably why Xander named her after the Spanish word for mother.
He found himself exploring the massive and expansive campus today, just to re-familiarize himself with the surroundings. As always, Xander walked through the courtyard, head somewhat down, fists in pockets as he observed the smooth and neat concrete that paved its way in an orderly fashion around the area. Who ever designed this institute of learning certainly had a hand for craftsmanship and Xander deeply admired that. Anyone who could master their craft deserved to be praised in Xander's eyes. As he continued his walk, he noticed somewhat of a ruckus going on across the way. A battle? Between some girl he was unfamiliar with and that one guy, Ronnie. Semi-intrigued by the battle, Xander took a seat on a nearby bench and sat, closing his eyes, opening them every so often when some major attack surprised him.
After a few minutes of 'resting his eyes' Xander opened them slowly and rubbed his eyelids. Yawning in a sophisticated manner, he said to himself, "I guess it's good to see everyone getting back into the swing of things. Hopefully this year is a bit more... compelling than last year." Xander was mentioning how last year pretty much didn't live up to the expectations he had for his first year. The battles were okay; the classes were sub-par; and the level of entertainment could have been higher. But Xander wasn't one to give up on anything. His parents wouldn't allow him to anyway. "This battle definitely looks like it's heating up though. I guess I'll pay attention." By now, another girl had appeared on to the scene. Ammy. Xander was familiar with her from afar, but didn't know much about her. Or anyone for that matter.

giselle marks • four hundred and fourteen.
“oh, look how adorable. they want to play together,” the girl gushed, watching the darumaka and her precious eustace inch closer to one another. the pokemon bounced up to pop a bubble from the spheal's ball, but was bite harshly in the ankle by his teammate. giselle and reginald exchanged a weary glance. did ronnie just let this kind of stuff happen? the in-team fighting was never an issue for the coordinator. she loved how peaceful reg was. the vulpix, however, seemed to be aggressively domineering against her happy little teammate. it was when the spheal bounded forward the the snover barred his path. he didn't want his friend getting any more wounded than he'd have to. the snover said nothing, but part of him wished his little buddy didn't have to face the snarling fire type.
giselle issued her command and the little bundle of blue curled up to shield himself. ronnie countered with a tail whip. eustace was unaware of the move. he was tucked inside his ball; inside his own little world. when the vulpix's tail met his body, the pokemon was flung to the right. his form unfurled. his tiny little tusks gritted with anticipation. what would giselle tell him to do now? he was no battler, but he would do what he could. the girl thought about it for a moment. if she used powder snow, the fire type would just put it out using ember. but, she stretched a little further. thinking of a contest situation. visually appealing moves. “eustace, water gun and then freeze the water with powder snow.” she ordered nervously. it was clever. kind of.
the spheal bounced forward and let out a cry. "spheallll!" it growled, his mouth opened as he aimed a water gun attack at his opponent. as the liquid was soaring through the air, he released a burst of powder snow. the water froze and shot towards the fire type like bullets. water gun. how ironic. the pokemon were totally unaware they were being watched. but giselle wasn't. “well, it's good to see we aren't the only two students here. my name's giselle. uhm, i'm new to ledom. but, do all students come to watch other people's fights? as a coordination major, i don't really do this sort of thing often. what are your names?” she asked, giving both the newcoming boy and girl a smile. reginald pressed closer to giselle, but welcomed the pokemon with a nod. “snover,” he mumbled.
[ i like this post! kind of. giselle thinks like coordinator. so some of her choices are kind wonky. ] [/blockquote][/blockquote]
