Relaxing at the edge of the Magma Field was a huge thing for Robin- it made her realize just how far she had come. Her fear of fire and fire Pokemon used to prevent her from even considering to come to this place- and now, here she was. Just chillin', and actually feeling quite peaceful. She hadn't completely conquered her fear yet, but she definitely wasn't letting it control her.
But Robin wasn't only reminiscing about her fear of fire- her mind was reliving her entire life. It was one big, long, flashback. And up to approximately year twenty of that flashback, it was one big, long, nightmare for her.
She shuddered as the flashback finished, and brought herself back to the present. After all, she wasn't here just to hang out- although, it was nice to take a break from her frantic school-year preparations. There was a certain ground-type Pokemon that she was after, and she was hoping today was her lucky day. And even if it wasn't, it was still nice to get off the academy campus, get some exercise, and hopefully see some wild Pokemon.
Robin decided it was about time to stop lazing about. She stood up- she had been laying on her stomach as she was reminiscing- and brushed the dirt off of her jean shorts and her white t-shirt. She attached her six pokeballs to her belt loops, put her hands on her hips, and looked around.

A WILD TRAPINCH APPEARED ! FEMALE. TWENTY-FIVE. HYPER CUTTER. GROUND. BITE - SAND-ATTACK - FAINT ATTACK - SAND TOMB the red pokemon was a bright color against the black landscape that surrounded it, the trapinch was a clear target for any pokemon to attack. but why would they attack her again? the weak pokemon was already beaten to a pulp, its food stolen, and its pride broken. what else could they possibly do to a pokemon like her? but sadly the trapinch knew wild pokemon could do a deal on another if they were much stronger, especially the future evolution of that pokemon. trapinch was considered a baby, and easy to pick on.
after scrambling around for awhile, something strange caught her eye. wait, that couldn't be right. a human, here? the trapinch, like all the pokemon here, simply stopped and stared unable to believe that a human had ventured here. to magma fields. what was the meaning of this? but no matter, the trapinch needed to find some food. her belly was rumbling loud and aching terribly.
she stepped a bit closer but was still so far away, she had never seen a human in her life before and did not know what to expect from the creature. would it catch her? hurt her? or would a miracle happen and the beast feed her? the trapinch had no idea what to expect, but let out a low growl towards the human to let it know she was here.

Robin spotted the Trapinch just a few seconds after it spotted her- after all, it was a fairly vibrant orange Pokemon living in a world of blackened rock. She stared back at it, and smiled. 'I must have amazing luck, to be able to find the Pokemon I'm looking for right at the beginning!' The wild Trapinch growled at her, but Robin didn't get the feeling that it was a growl meant to threaten or warn.
For a moment, Robin wasn't entirely sure what to do. She had been here once or twice before, and she knew that most Pokemon here were very skittish, because not many Trainers ventured out here. If she simply approached the Trapinch, it was fairly likely that it would turn tail and scuttle off to a place where it could watch safely, without being seen.
Robin also didn't want to battle it. She didn't believe in battling Pokemon who didn't want to, and so far the Trapinch had shown no desire to battle. Besides, she wasn't entirely sure what level the Trapinch was, and she didn't want to overpower it by accident. Overkill was not appealing to her.
So, Robin did the only thing she could think of. She turned ninety degrees to the left, so that she could barely see the wild Trapinch out of the corner of her eye, and slowly sat down. Hopefully the wild Pokemon's curiosity would bring it closer to her. If not, she did have a plan B ready.
